Islamabad, 26 Sept 2012(PR) :The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, while emphasizing the need of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in line with the principle of self-determination and a sincere dialogue between the three concerned parties, asked the visiting President of India Pranab Mukherjee to redeem the pledge of a UN sponsored plebiscite as made by the founding fathers of the freedom movement with the Kashmiris in late 1940s and 1950s.He said the President by this act could leave his deep foot-prints on the history as a leader of peace and conflict resolution. He said all the three parties and their representatives should sit together to settle the longest conflict after the World War11.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that as the President of India he should feel the pulse of the Kashmiris, and that the picture of the state was not what had been portrayed before him during his visit to Kashmir, to address the students of the University of Kashmir. “It gives a dark political, administrative, economic and social look, due to inhuman laws under army.” He said talk of human, political and democratic rights was absolutely a cheap and farce slogan, and the students, youth and common people were harassed and arrested everywhere to show that all was well in the turbulent land of the Kashmiris. Moreover, the leaders of the Hurriyet Conference were being arrested frequently on these occasions and on Friday to shut their mouths from speaking before the public. Despite India-Pakistan reconciliation and negotiation policy thousands of Kashmiris were never allowed to travel freely to their homes without risking their future. “The President of India should read writings on the wall during his valley visit give a good advice to his political and military hierarchy in Delhi and do what is best in the interests of peace and humanity.”

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani welcomed President Asif Ali Zardari’s speech on Anti-Islam Film and Kashmir Conflict in the UN general Assembly as a wake-up call for the world community especially the Muslim Ummah and urged that solid steps should be taken in this regard. Mere speeches can’t satisfy the people, or change the scenario. The UN should criminalize sacrilegious acts against the holy Qur’an, Prophet PBUH, including other sacred books and Prophets of God on earth without further loss of time.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani expressed his profound grief over the death of the mother of Afzal Guru who(Guru) has been living a life of detention for the last several years. He prayed may Allah shower his blessings on the departed soul and grant patience to the bereaved family.
